Flight for Life

This year 176 Boeing of Canada Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron will be holding their sixth Flight For Life.

February 22-24, 2013 at Kildonan Place Shopping Center, we will be located at the west end of the mall in front of Sears.

Flight for Life is an activity that is held to raise money for the Manitoba Children's Hospital. During this three-day event cadets fly a flight simulator on a cross-country flight from St.John's, Newfoundland to Victoria, British Columbia. The goal of the project is to collect one dollar for every mile flown. Funds are raised through pledges collected by the cadets before and during the event. All the money raised goes directly to the children's hospital.

176 is also able to set up displays to promote and recruit for the cadet program. This year we plan to have a large portion of our 110 cadets participate in raising funds, talking to people about the cadet program, and flying the simulator. These cadets participation in this event counts toward participation marks and fulfill part of the training that is needed to pass their training level. Theses cadets also get to take with them the knowledge that they helped other children that are not as fortunate as they are.

As an added bonus this year we will have a motion flight simulator called the “Dream Flyer”, which will be available for the public to try out. We will ask for a small donation, and you too can fly this exciting motion activated flight simulator.

In the past since we have run this event, 176 Cadets have raised almost $15,000 towards the Children’s Hospital.
